Cliff Road Chiropractic & Wellness Center offers spinal decompression which brings relief to those with cervical or lumbar disc herniations, chronic back pain, sciatica, neck pain, and more!
Spinal Decompression is a new state of the art technology that is performed with our Lumbar Cervical Decompression (LCD) table. Decompression therapy is a medical procedure that specifically aims at non-surgically rehabilitating an injured spinal disc.
NASA was the first to investigate the effects of spinal decompression on vertebral discs. NASA found during the anti-gravity state of the space travel mission, astronauts had an increase in disc height, which leads to a healthier, stronger, more pain-free spinal disc. After thoroughly researching this phenomenon, medical researchers discovered that if an “anti-gravity” state could be induced within an injured spinal disc (i.e, a disc that has herniated or is bulging out, and is causing a pinched nerve), then that injured disc could increase its height, thus healing faster, and in fact, become stronger than it was before!
Spinal researchers theorized that if an anti-gravity state could be induced in an injured spinal disc, then this would create a ‘negative pressure’ within that disc, and it would ‘draw in’ some, or all of the herniated material. In effect, this makes the spinal disc behave like a giant vacuum cleaner, and everything close to it becomes drawn to it.
In fact, this is exactly what happens! When a spinal disc has a ‘negative pressure’ exerted on it, a vacuum effect is created, whereby the herniated disc material is slowly ‘drawn in’, back into the disc, thus relieving the pain and inflammation and making the disc much healthier. As an additional benefit, this vacuum effect of the disc draws in much needed nutrients that makes the disc more resilient, and stronger.
And all this is possible without having to undergo back surgery!
Through great advances in medical technology, Spinal Decompression is now available in limited doctors’ offices throughout the country. We are proud to offer this new breakthrough technology at our office in Eagan.
